Sutartinės, derived from the Lithuanian word sutarti (meaning “to be in concord”), are an ancient form of Lithuanian polyphonic music typically performed by female singers. Recognized by UNESCO as part of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity since 2010, sutartinės are characterized by their distinct melodies and themes that reflect traditional rituals, daily life, and history, offering listeners a deep connection to Lithuania’s cultural past.
‘Sutartinės’ is a syncretic form of art that combines urban and contemporary beats with atavistic voices and harmonies of Lithuania, offering a rare opportunity to discover profound and innovative music.
